What Experts Say

I strongly recommend Dr. Newmark's book to all parents, relatives, and friends of children with ADHD, as well as the teachers, doctors, and other professionals who work with them. Before going to the pharmacy, we can use an integrative approach to help these children succeed and fulfill their true potential. Dr. Newmark tells us just how to do that.
— Dr. Andrew Weil

Dr. Newmark has finally crafted the book that I have long been wishing for: a wonderful self-help guide for parents looking for a thoughtful and science-based natural approach to treating ADHD. This integrative/holistic style reduces or eliminates the need for stimulant medications and offers sound advice about diet, sleep, nutrients, herbs and other key modalities. The book radiates a balanced wisdom that comes so rarely from practicing physicians today..
— Scott Shannon, MD Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist; author of Please Don’t Label My Child; editor of Handbook of Complementary and Alternative Therapies in Mental Health

If I had one book to read about ADHD, this is it. It is well-written, practical and filled with the uncommonly good common sense of an experienced and compassionate clinician with fair-minded and rigorous reviews of the state of the science.
— Kathi Kemper, MD, MPH, Director, Center for Integrative Medicine; Professor of Pediatrics, Social Science Health Policy, and Family and Community Medicine, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center

Pediatric Integrative Medicine is a philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative medicine uncritically; it combines the best of both approaches to wellness and healing.

Integrative Pediatric Consults

Dr. Newmark’s practice in Pediatric Integrative Medicine involves approaching each child as an individual, not just a child with a disease. Using integrative pediatrics, he will conduct a comprehensive 1-to-1-1/2 hour initial visit to get to know your child and your family. He then develops a treatment plan that emphasizes healing in the most gentle, effective, and least harmful ways possible.

Dr. Newmark practices integrative pediatric medicine at Whole Child Wellness in Belmont, California, near San Francisco. To schedule an in-person appointment for your child, call 650-595-KIDS (5437).

Educational Consults by Telephone

Many parents interested in an integrative approach to their child’s illness or condition do not have access to an integrative pediatrician, and are not able to travel for an in-person evaluation. For these families, Dr. Newmark offers a one-hour educational consult by telephone. During the consult, he will want to explore in detail your child’s particular problem, and offer his general approach to the situation. This would include discussing possible diagnostic and treatment options from an integrative point of view. It must be emphasized that during this consult he cannot legally or ethically offer any specific medical advice for your child. The fee for this service depends on needs. It is not generally covered by insurance, but you are welcome to submit the receipt to your insurance company.

Dr. Newmark also offers wellness consults, which will provide education about an integrative approach to well-baby and child care. This includes nutrition, the prevention and management of food and environmental sensitivities and allergies, prevention of ear infections, the use of herbal products and other alternative therapies for children, as well as a variety of other topics relevant to your child.

If you would like to schedule an educational or wellness consult by telephone, call Dr. Newmark’s office at Whole Child Wellness, 650-595-KIDS (5437), and ask to schedule a telephone consultation. We will email or mail a short history form to fill out in order to make the consult as helpful and efficient as possible.
